Catalyst screening

Catalyst screening is carried out at Microinnova for gas phase reactions as well as for liquid phase reactions. Various catalyst materials are tested at different conditions for the given problem and the determined relevant process parameters are transferred in a test-matrix. Due to the short residence times a multiplicity of experiments can be carried out in a few hours to find the optimal catalyst composition and process conditions for the given problem.

Basic feasibility study

The starting point of a micro chemical process development is usually a basic feasibility study. At first a screening of process parameters is done. The goal of this study is to obtain information about the feasibility of the process and an estimation of the potential of micro chemical engineering for the given problem. After completion of the basic feasibility study two further procedures are possible in general. On the one hand critical process parameters can be identified and quantified in a consecutive technical feasibility study, where the optimal operating conditions for the process are determined.

The next step of process development is the industrial feasibility where contents like scale-up, plant design and engineering come to the fore. On the other hand Microinnova offers their customers the possibility to do the further micro chemical process development on their own (see laboratory plant design).

Laboratory scale plants planning

Microinnova offers planning and start up of laboratory scale plants as well. Therewith the possibility to do in-house micro chemical process development is opened up to our customers. Starting point therefore is usually a basic feasibility study. Afterwards a customer-specific micro chemical laboratory plant is assembled by Microinnova and started up at the customers site together with the customer. These plants may be specifically arranged for one reaction or for two and more specifications (multi-purpose). Further the micro chemical engineering Know-How is transferred to the customer in training sessions, usually during the start up of the plant.
