Microreactor Labplant and Pilotplant Technology.

General

A pilot scale microreactor plant is designed on the basis of an optimized labscale plant with about five to twenty times higher throughputs. It is usually used to support calculated scaling factors. On the other hand it can be used as small production system.

Pilot plants as small production systems

30.000 to 50.000 chemicals are produced and/or distributed in the European Community. One third of these chemicals are needed in amounts of less than ten tons. Especially in this large segment microreaction technology can bring benefits with on demand concepts for fine chemicals production. The big advantage of microreaction technology is that the process design is already produced in the lab scale phase in the chemical development. An optimized lab scale laboratory method can usually be directly transferred into pilot scale. So it is possible to start a small scale production in a very short time after finishing the chemical development and make up to some hundreds kilogram of product available.
